Mark Hein, DVM

University of Madison School of Veterinary Medicine Charter Class 1987
Dr. Mark Hein is a graduate of the “Charter Class” of the University – Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine. He was the first veterinarian in Western Wisconsin to offer laser surgery to pet owners as an alternative to more painful conventional surgeries.
Dr. Hein founded WisconsinVeterinaryOrthopedics.com specializing in reconstructive joint surgery, implementing the TPLO as the surgery of choice for cruciate ligament repair. Dr. Hein enjoys archery, mountaineering, waterfowling, and trail riding on his ‘paint’ horses. His family operates Hein Farms, LLCgrain farming 7 farms in LaCrosse and Trempealeau County.
Dr. Hein and his wife, Anne-Marie operate Van Loon Animal Hospital and enjoy the company of three beautiful daughters and a son residing in beautiful Trempealeau, WI
Ellie
Ellie is an Alaskan transplant that has twenty years of experience working with animals large and small. She is a certified Humane Officer and Rabies trained. She has rehabilitated wildlife from Alaskan predators, bobcats, seals, and plenty of raptors down to the tiny Wisconsin opossums’ orphans. Ellie is currently working to finish her bachelor’s in animal science. Ellie is owned by two dogs (The Duke of Earl and Sir Nigel Cunningham IV of Borkchester), and a pigeon that she rehabilitated and released two years ago. The pigeon “Buddy “, although released with two siblings into the wild Buddy, has decided Ellie is the bee’s knees. Buddy has moved twice; following Ellie wherever she goes.
Lauren
Is a fourth-year undergraduate student at UW La Crosse. She is studying to become a Veterinarian and is originally from North Carolina and recently moved to Green Bay. In her free time, Lauren enjoys playing sports, outdoors and making friends. Laurens’s perfect day would be a weekend by the lake with her family.
Brianna
Brianna graduated from the University of Wisconsin- Platteville in May of2020. She obtained her bachelor’s in animal science with a Pre-Vet emphasis. When not at work Brianna enjoys spending time with her dog Max and cat Fred. She enjoys going on hikes and just generally being outdoors. Especially hunting and fishing. Brianna plans on going back to school in the near future to finish her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine.
Mikayla
Mikayla graduated from UW River Falls in December 2018 with a bachelor’s in animal science. When not at work she loves being outdoors or working on crafts. She has two dogs Waylon and Dixie that love to be outside hiking. Mikayla and her Fiancé have a herd of beef cows and enjoy working with them as well as getting them ready for shows. She loves taking care of animals and the unexpected events of each day.
